What About Us? is a free, one day, cancer coping program for children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. Through fun activities such as art therapy and children’s yoga, children are able to discuss their feelings after someone close to them is diagnosed with cancer. In addition to talking about their feelings, children learn how to cope with the stress that accompanies a cancer diagnosis. The camp is run by licensed social workers and a trained yoga coach. Gems of Hope, a local nonprofit which focuses on bringing hope to cancer patients and their families is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2016 “Gifts of Education” scholarships.
